BYLAWS OF THE SOCIETY OF FOUNDATION PROFESSORS
EASTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY

ARTICLE I, NAME
The name of this association shall be the Society of Foundation Professors.
ARTICLE II, OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this association shall be:
- To contribute to the EKU mission
- To serve as a campus voice for excellence in teaching, scholarship/creative
activities, and service.
ARTICLE III, MEMBERSHIP
The membership of this association shall be open to all
individuals who have been selected as Foundation Professors.
ARTICLE IV, MEETINGS
Section I
Regularly scheduled meetings of the association shall be
held at least twice a semester during the fall and spring semesters at
such time and place as designated by the members of the association. These
meetings will normally be scheduled on the first Monday of the month.
Section II
A special meeting shall be called by the Steering Committee whenever
three or more members so request.
Section III
At any meeting of the association, eight (8) members shall constitute
a quorum.
ARTICLE V, DUES
There shall be no dues for membership in the association.
ARTICLE VI, LEADERSHIP
Section I
Leadership of the association shall be undertaken by a Steering Committee
of four or more members.
Section II
The election of the Steering Committee shall take place at the last meeting
of the academic year.
Section III
The duties of the Steering Committee shall be:
- To ensure fulfillment of the objectives of the association
- To serve as spokespersons for the association.
ARTICLE VII, COMMITTEES
The association shall create committees as deemed necessary by the association.
ARTICLE VIII, AMENDMENTS
Section I
These bylaws may be amended at any meeting of the association by a majority
of members present.
Section II
If any amendment is to be voted upon, the membership must be notified
two weeks in advance of the meeting.
